The Mets are still talking to the Pirates about potentially trading for Andrew McCutchen and Josh Harrison, per a report from Newsday.
A five time All-Star, McCutchen is coming off of a bounce-back seasonin which he hit 28 home runs with 88 RBIs, 11 stolen bases, and a 3.7 WAR. He hit .279/.363/.486 with a 122 wRC+, which isn’t quite as good as he used to be but was still a solid line.
Harrison also had a very productive season last year, as he hit a career-high 16 home runs with 47 RBIs. He is coming off an injury, though, as he missed the last month of the 2017 season with a broken bone in his left hand. He hit .272/.339/.432 with a 104 wRC+, though, in what was his second-best major league season as a hitter.
If the Mets are able to land Harrison and McCutchen via trade—which seems questionable given the state of their farm system—they’d acquire an everyday second baseman and a power-hitting outfielder.
