Meet the Mets

The Mets reportedly interviewed former Pirates’ GM Dave Littlefield for the vacant general manager position. Littlefield did not enjoy much success in his tenure with Pittsburgh.

Met killer Chipper Jones kept up with his defense of Jacob deGrom and explained why he thinks deGrom should win the Cy Young.

It still seems pretty shocking and tone deaf that Jose Reyes was nominated for the Marvin Miller Man of the Year Award.

Around the National League East

The Marlins could have a new logo next season. Four different possibilities were leaked but the final decision won’t be revealed until November.

The Phillies outfield was historically bad this year.

The rumors around Bryce Harper continue to swirl and the odds are starting to favor the Dodgers as a landing spot.

Around Major League Baseball

Major League Baseball issued a statement on the cheating allegations against the Astros and said they didn’t find any wrongdoing, although this reportedly wasn’t the first incident in the playoffs.

This incident could be just the beginning of teams using technology to gain the upper hand, and baseball should do something about it before it becomes a much larger issue.

The Brewers fell to the Dodgers but manager Craig Counsell tried to pull some shenanigans with his starter.

Andrew Benintendi ended Game 4 with a spectacular catch and the Red Sox are now one win away from the World Series. There was a controversial call in the game where a fan was ruled to have interfered with a catch in the stands, and umpire Joe West explained his decision after the game.

Didi Gregorius underwent successful Tommy John surgery.

Yesterday at Amazin’ Avenue

Steve Sypa continued counting down the best minor league pitchers he saw this season, and Daniel Zamora came in at number five.

Lukas Vlahos reviewed Amed Rosario’s season.

This Date in Mets History

In 2015, Noah Syndergaard and Daniel Murphy helped take down Jake Arrieta and the Cubs to give the Mets a 2-0 lead in the NLCS.

Nine years earlier, the Mets defeated Chris Carpenter to win Game 6 of the NLCS and force a Game 7.

Also on this date, in 1973 the Mets defeated the Athletics and were one win away from winning the World Series.
