Meet the Mets
The Mets hired Jim Riggleman as their bench coach on Monday. Riggleman provides Mickey Callaway with a wealth of experience as a National League manager, something Callaway lacked on the bench in 2018.
The Mets also claimed Jordan Patterson on waivers from the Colorado Rockies.
The Mets have been keeping tabs on several free agent starting pitchers, in case they decide to trade Noah Syndergaard.
Speaking of Syndergaard, Anthony DiComo doesn’t think it’s likely the Mets will end up dealing him.
Joel Sherman rates the odds of a Syndergaard trade at less than 50% as well.
The Mets have shown strong interest in free agent reliever Andrew Miller.
Should the Mets sign Adam Jones if the price is right?
Around the National League East
Cyber Monday brought a couple of significant pickups for the Braves. Brian McCann agreed to a one-year deal to return to the team, which also signed Josh Donaldson for a big $23 million one-year contract.
The Nationals signed Henderson Alvarez to a minor league deal.
Derek Dietrich penned a heartfelt goodbye to Marlins fans after being designated for assignment by the team.
Around Major League Baseball
Kenley Jensen underwent his heart surgery and appears to be doing well.
The Royals claimed Conner Greene off waivers.
The Angels finally gave up on former top prospect Alex Meyer.
The Twins claimed C.J. Cron off waivers from the Rays.
The Yankees claimed Parker Bridwell and designated Ronald Torreyes for assignment to make room for him on the roster.
