Meet the Mets

Jeurys Familia is reportedly on his way back to the team. He has reportedly agreed to a $30 million contract that will keep him in Queens for the next three years.

The Mets remain interested in acquiring J.T. Realmuto but the Reds have reportedly jumped into the fray as well.

Realmuto comes with a high price tag but he is worth it.

The Mets are certainly going for it, but so are the other teams in the NL East and there are still top-tier free agents on the market to be had.

Brodie Van Wagenen requested that Jeff Wilpon join him at the Winter Meetings, but is that move more of a help or a hindrance (paywall alert)?

Despite not making a back splash during the Winter Meetings the front office is content to wait for their opportunity.

The team is still on the hunt for outfield help and they have reportedly checked in with free agent Adam Jones.

The Mets are wary of some of the free agent relievers on the market, but none of those concerns apply to their new closer Edwin Diaz.

Grant Brisbee examines why the Mets could possibly be contemplating trading Noah Syndergaard.

With all of the trade rumors surrounding him, Syndergaard took to Twitter to share his feelings on the matter.

Todd Zeile will be replacing Nelson Figueroa on SNY for the pre and post game shows.

Around the National League East

With the rumors circling, The Good Phight hopes several players will be traded out of the NL East.

In an exchange of Tanners, the Nationals traded Tanner Roark to the Reds in exchange for Tanner Rainey.

Around Major League Baseball

After a quiet couple of days a flurry of moves were made. J.A. Happ will be returning to the Yankees, Lance Lynn reportedly signed with the Rangers, Charlie Morton is most likely headed to Tampa, Justin Bour will become a Los Angeles Angel after a physical is completed, and the Tigers have reportedly signed Jordy Mercer to a one-year deal.

Reliever Joe Kelly has reportedly signed a three-year deal with the Dodgers.

In a bit of a surprise move, the Blue Jays released Troy Tulowitzki while still owed $38 million on his contract.

The Giants might be more apt to trade Madison Bumgarner in July at that trade deadline than they are now.

Agent Scott Boras held a meeting with the press and said his premier client could sign with a team at any time.

Tony La Russa got very upset when discussing those who do not think that Harold Baines belongs in Cooperstown.

The Rule 5 Draft will be held at the conclusion of the Winter Meetings and there are some interesting names that are eligible to be drafted.

This Date in Mets History

On this date in 1998, the Mets signed future Hall of Famer Rickey Henderson.
