Meet the Mets

The Mets signed outfielder Gregor Blanco to a minor league deal. Blanco provides depth, but has been a woeful hitter for the last few seasons.

Several teams are apparently interested in trading for Travis d’Arnaud or Kevin Plawecki. The Mets are likely looking for backup depth in the infield or outfield, or a lefty reliever in return.

The Mets have shown interest in Mike Minor, but the deal looks unlikely to be made, as the Mets are on Minor’s no-trade list.

Brandon Nimmo spoke with Anthony DiComo about all things Christmas.

Around the National League East

Grant Brisbee put together a list of all the teams that should sign Bryce Harper. There are 30 of them.

The Braves made a Home Alone parody video for Christmas.

Around Major League Baseball

The Dodgers made a massive trade, sending Matt Kemp, Yasiel Puig and Alex Wood to the Reds in return for Homer Bailey and some prospects.

CC Sabathia underwent heart surgery, but is expected to make a full recovery.

The Cardinals signed Andrew Miller to a two-year deal worth about $25 million. A third year would become guaranteed if Miller appears in 110 games over the next two seasons.

The Mariners acquired outfielder Domingo Santana from the Brewers.
