For this week’s Mind Boggler, we’re asking you to name every Met to pitch in at least 18 straight games without allowing an earned run. It’s the fifth installment of our series highlighting the longest streaks in team history. So far, we’ve covered wins, home runs, scoreless starts, and times on base.
Every reliever in Mets history to allow no earned runs in at least 18 consecutive appearances
Keep in mind that this list only covers relief pitchers. Many of them recorded only an out or two at a time, so focus especially hard on lefty specialists who made a lot of brief—and scoreless—outings. Something else to remember is that earned runs don’t count here, meaning that some of these streaks weren’t literally “scoreless.” Finally, we included streaks that carried over into multiple seasons, which is why there’s more than one year listed next to some players.
You’ll have four minutes for this quiz. Good luck, and remember to post your time and score in the comments!
