Juan Lagares is ready to return to action after dealing with a “tight” left leg, which had been keeping him out of the Mets’ Grapefruit League lineup. The Mets described his injury as a “strained left hamstring” and listed him as day-to-day. There has been much anticipation in camp surrounding Lagares, with both coaches and fans eager to see his new swing that he has worked on this offseason and that left an impression on Yoenis Cespedes. It seems like that chance will finally come on Friday, with Lagares slated to play center field in his spring training debut.
Speaking of Cespedes, he is going to be back in the outfield tomorrow as well, after serving as the designated hitter in today’s game, coming back from shoulder soreness. During his time out of the lineup, he reassured reporters that he was not worried about the shoulder. We’ve already seen one majestic bomb from him this spring. Here’s hoping it’s a sign of more to come and that both Mets outfielders can stay healthy coming out of camp.
