Triple-A: Las Vegas 51s (1-4)

EL PASO 12, LAS VEGAS 0 (BOX)

Ah, baseball in the PCL, it never gets old. Unless of course you want any sort of reasonable environment in which to evaluate prospects, in which case its been old since the get-go. Mickey Jannis was shellacked in this one, allowing ten runs in four innings on eleven hits and two walks. The 51s, meanwhile, were dominated by Kyle Lloyd, who struck out nine and held Las Vegas off the board for six innings. Dominic Smith went hitless in the loss.

Double-A: Binghamton Rumble Ponies (3-1)

AKRON 6, BINGHAMTON 3 (BOX)

Marcos Molina had a rough outing in the Rumble Ponies’ first loss of the year. Molina went five innings, allowing four runs on six hits and a walk while striking out five. As a bright spot, both Adonis Uceta and Gerson Bautista were impressive in relief, striking out seven of the nine batters they faced. On the offensive end, Tomas Nido was the only noteworthy performer with a two-RBI peformance.

Advanced-A: St. Lucie Mets (1-4)

TAMPA 5, ST. LUCIE 1 (BOX)

This was really a pathetic showing for St. Lucie, as the fell to 1-4 and managed only one hit in the game. Desmond Lindsay, Brandon Brosher, and Luis Carpio all drew walks, while Gene Cone registered the only hit (a single). On the pitching side, an error for Michael Paez spoiled a respectable start for Gary Cornish, who allowed three runs in five innings, two of which were unearned. Stephen Nogosek, acquired in the Addison Reed deal last summer, struck out three, walked two, and allowed a run in an inning of work.

P Stephen Nogosek: 2.0 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 3 K

Low-A: Columbia Fireflies (3-2)

COLUMBIA 8, HAGERSTOWN 3 (BOX)

The Fireflies exploded for six runs in the bottom of the second, capped by a Jeremy Vazquez home run, and never looked back. Chris Viall struck out six in four innings, allowing two runs (one earned) in a four inning start. Nicolas Debora got the winin relief with two scoreless innings.
