Final Score: Mets 3, Brewers 2 — Wilmer will be there for you

Because we’re there for him, too

MLB: Milwaukee Brewers at New York Mets Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

The Mets defeated the Brewers today by a score of 3-2. Wilmer Flores smacked a walk-off home run off Matt Albers to give the Mets the series, and continues their torrid start to the season.

Noah Syndergaard started for the Mets, and had a no-hit bid going into the fifth inning before being erased on a Hernan Perez single. Syndergaard threw more pitches than he would have liked to, but that is what happens when you strike out 11 over five and a third innings. Syndergaard also gave up two hits and one walk in his scoreless appearance.

The scoring began for the Mets in the bottom of the first, when Brandon Nimmo led off the game with a single off Milwaukee starter Jhoulys Chacín, eventually scoring on a Todd Frazier single. Nimmo would also score the second Mets’ run of the game on a solo home run he hit in the bottom of the sixth inning.

The Brewers scored their two, unearned, runs in the top of the sixth inning on what should have been an inning-ended ground out to Amed Rosario. But that was all forgotten once the Flores homer landed in the left field seats.
