Final Score: Mets 3, Diamondbacks 1—Ace in the hole

deGrom strikes out thirteen and Conforto collects four hits in tonight’s win.

MLB: Arizona Diamondbacks at New York Mets Gregory Fisher-USA TODAY Sports

Coming off of his abbreviated outing last time he was on the mound, Jacob deGrom looked much more like himself tonight, putting together a brilliant performance in which he allowed just one run and scattered six hits over seven innings of work. deGrom struck out thirteen, tying his career-high. He also set another career best with a 24 13 scoreless innings streak, which ended on a Jake Lamb RBI double, representing the only Diamondbacks run.

The Mets benefitted from two unearned runs in the first inning when Asdrubal Cabrera hit a grounder to the hole between short and third and Ketel Marte made a wild throw to second that Daniel Descalso could not handle. Michael Conforto drove in the second of the two runs with a single and would go on to drive in the Mets’ third run as well, collecting a total of four hits on the night.

Robert Gsellman pitched a 1-2-3 eighth inning and Jeurys Familia followed that up by striking out the side in the ninth to earn the save and secure Jacob deGrom’s fourth victory of the season.

Full recap to follow.
