Final score: Braves 4, Mets 3—New worst loss of the season

The Mets suffered another awful loss this afternoon.

In a game that saw Jacob deGrom pitch seven excellent innings, the Mets wound up losing 4-3 to the Braves on a walk-off two-run home run by a guy who is barely capable of hitting major league home runs.

The Mets led 2-0 late in the game, but deGrom gave up a run in the seventh before making it through a big jam in that inning to keep them ahead. Seth Lugo blew that lead by giving up one run in the eighth, but Devin Mesoraco saved him and the team—briefly—by hitting a solo shot in the top of the ninth inning to put the Mets back ahead.

But Lugo walked the leadoff man in the bottom of the inning, and after recording one out, he gave up the aforementioned home run to Charlie Culberson to give the Mets their new worst loss of the season—something they seem to be doing with regularity lately.

Full recap to follow.
