The Mets won. Really!

The Mets finally put an end to a losing streak that had lasted eight games by beating the Yankees in the finale of this weekend’s three-game Subway Series by a 2-0 score.

Seth Lugo got the start and was fantastic, needing only 84 pitches to throw six scoreless innings with eight strikeouts, no walks, and just two hits with no runs allowed. Robert Gsellman threw two scoreless innings after that, and Anthony Swarzak worked around a temporary loss of the strike zone to complete the game with a scoreless ninth.

As for those runs the Mets scored, both came home on a two-run home run off the bat of Todd Frazier in the bottom of the fifth.

Full recap to follow.
