Conforto, Matz lead Mets as they snap their losing streak.

MLB: New York Mets at Arizona Diamondbacks Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

The Mets found a rare spout of water in the desert last night, breaking out for a whole five runs to snap a four game losing streak and win only their third game in their last 16 by taking their first game in this series against the Diamondbacks 5-1.

Michael Conforto lined a three-run home run into the right field stands in the top of the second to give the Mets a rare multi-run lead. Amed Rosario led off the third inning with a double and came around on a wild pitch to extend the lead to four in the top of the third.

Meanwhile, Steven Matz had another solid start, scattering six hits over 6.2 innings. Nick Ahmed tripled to lead off the sixth, and came around to score to break up the shutout. Matz retired the first two in the seventh before surrendering two singles and turning it over to the bullpen. Robert Gsellman stranded the bases loaded in the seventh, then he and Anthony Swarzak closed it out to secure the rare happy recap.

Full recap to follow.
