The Mets have activated Jeurys Familia from the disabled list and optioned Jacob Rhame to Triple-A Las Vegas to make room for him on the roster. Familia had hit the disabled list earlier this month with right shoulder soreness.

In 29.0 innings over the course of 28 appearances this year, Famila has been very good. He has a 2.48 ERA and 2.29 FIP with a 27.5 percent strikeout rate and a 7.5 percent walk rate. If his shoulder is okay and he’s pitching like that, he gives the Mets a desperately-needed late-inning arm. But the bullpen’s 4.56 ERA ranks 25th in baseball, and among the pitchers on the active roster, only Robert Gsellman and Seth Lugo have posted sub-3.00 ERAs thus far this season—with Lugo currently in the rotation while Noah Syndergaard is out with his finger injury.

As for Rhame, he’s had a rough time in the big leagues this year and has a 6.75 ERA and 6.53 FIP in 13.1 innings.
