The Mets lost in extra innings to the Dodgers today at Citi Field, 8-7. The team, swept at home, has now lost six straight games.
The game was a back and forth affair, almost to a comical degree. The Mets’ relief corps was on the mound for the entire game, due to the injury to Jason Vargas. The first four pitchers - Jerry Blevins, Tim Peterson, Chris Beck, and Anthony Swarzak - each gave up a solo home run and then some.
The Mets got four runs batted in by Kevin Plawecki, including a game tying three-run home run in the bottom of the eighth inning. An Asdrubal Cabrera home run and a Wilmer Flores double plated the other runs.
Chris Flexen gave up the game-winning home run to Justin Turner in the bottom of the 11th inning, leading to yet another glum ending to a Mets game of late.
Full recap to follow.
