Major League Baseball’s amateur draft takes place this week, with the first two rounds set for tonight. They’ll be on MLB Network starting at 7:00 PM EDT, and there’ll be coverage on the network starting an hour before that.

We’ve had plenty of draft coverage from our own Steve Sypa recently. The two most relevant pieces heading into this evening’s picks are:

And you can check out all of the coverage here.

The Mets have the 6th and 48th overall picks in the draft tonight thanks to their bad record at the end of the 2017 season. They didn’t lose any picks in the offseason, as the team did not sign any players who had received qualifying offers.

As a quick recap of something else that Steve covered in-depth, the Mets’ top picks under Sandy Alderson thus far—they’ve had some comp picks at the back end of the first round, hence the distinction—have been:

  • 2011: Brandon Nimmo
  • 2012: Gavin Cecchini
  • 2013: Dominic Smith
  • 2014: Michael Conforto
  • 2015: Desmond Lindsay (2nd round)
  • 2016: Justin Dunn
  • 2017: David Peterson
