KINGSPORT 13, GREENEVILLE 12 (BOX)

It was a back and forth slugfest in Kingsport, as several late rallies led to a wild 13-12 finish. Kingsport carried an 8-4 lead into the seventh inning, but Liam McCall imploded, combining with Marbin Montilo to give up seven runs and put the Mets in a three run hole. They rallied right back, scoring two in the bottom half of the seventh on RBI singles from Gavin Garay and Yoel Romero, and taking the lead on a two-run home run from recently promoted Jarred Kelenic in the eighth. Andrew Mitchell blew the save in the ninth, but Yoel Romero channeled his inner Wilmer Flores and led off the bottom half with a walk off home run to send everyone home happy.

ROSTER ALERT: OF Jarred Kelenic assigned to Kingsport Mets from GCL Mets

Rookie - GCL Mets (13-7)

GCL METS 5, GCL NATIONALS 3 (BOX)

The GCL Mets took out the frustrations of the major league team on the GCL Nationals, topping their rivals’ affiliate 5-3. Oscar Rojas logged a quality start, allowing three runs in the third and holding the Nats off the board otherwise. Bryce Hutchinson and Marcos Correa followed with three scoreless innings of relief. On offense, Ronny Mauricio had the big hit, a two-run home run in the third inning that tied the game at the time. RBIs from Jhoander Saez and Mauricio in the fourth proved to be the difference in the game.
