The Mets are close to trading Jeurys Familia somewhere, according to reports from a whole bunch of national and local baseball writers: Ken Rosenthal, Buster Olney, Andy Martino, Jane Lee, Jon Heyman, and Jon Morosi. Overall, the reports indicate that the A’s are the team that’s closest to making a deal with the Mets, but nothing is final—and several other teams might still land the reliever.
Coming off the worst full season of his major league career in 2017, Familia has performed well when healthy this year. He’s thrown 40.2 innings and has a 2.88 ERA and 2.53 FIP. As per usual, his strikeout and walk rates are pretty good, and he’s been very good at limiting home runs to opposing hitters.
Over the course of his major league career, Familia has a 2.66 ERA and 2.93 FIP in 321.1 innings. Aside from the 2017 season, he has been anywhere from very good to outstanding as a member of the Mets’ bullpen going back to the 2014 season.
