The Mets won the Little League Classic with ease, beating the Phillies 8-2 in the Sunday night affair. Jason Vargas was excellent, at least for a bit, as he threw five scoreless innings before giving up two runs and getting just one out in the sixth inning.
That outing was more than enough for the Mets to win. The team scored eight times of fourteen hits, the vast majority of which were singles. Every hitter who made a plate appearance in the game—except for Michael Conforto—had at least one hit in the game. Amed Rosario had the best performance of them all with a 3-for-5 night with three runs batted in.
