With a little more than a month left in the 2018 season, today Major League Baseball announced the regular season schedule for the 2019 season. The Mets will open the season on the road against the Washington Nationals on March 28.

The Mets will be facing the AL Central in interleague play throughout the 2019 season, starting with a two game series against the Minnesota Twins at home on April 9 and 10. This is a welcome change for the Mets, who will gladly trade a handful of games against baseball’s best division for a handful of games against one of baseball’s worst divisions. The Mets will host the Detroit Tigers for a three game series starting on May 24, and will play the rest of their interleague games against the AL Central on the road, beginning with two games against the Twins in Minnesota on July 16 and 17. They will then round out the interleague portion of the schedule by playing three games against the Chicago White Sox in Chicago from July 30 to August 1, and three games against the Kansas City Royals in Kansas City from August 16 to August 18.

In addition to playing each team in the AL Central, the Mets will also participate in a pair of two-game series against their crosstown rivals, the New York Yankees. The 2019 installment of the annual Subway Series will begin with a pair of games in the Bronx on June 10 and 11, and will conclude with a pair of games at home in Flushing on July 2 and 3.

The season wraps up with a series at Citi Field against the Atlanta Braves, which will take place from September 27 to September 29.
