The Mets beat the Giants for the second time in as many nights, this time 5-3. Noah Syndergaard may not have been outstanding, but he had his best start of the month, as he went six innings, struck out six, walked one, and gave up two runs on five hits.
Dominic Smith got the scoring started with a no-doubt solo home run in the second inning. In that inning, Jeff McNeil singled in a run, and Todd Frazier hit a ground rule double that scored one more. The Giants answered with a couple of runs in the third, but Jose Bautista hit a solo home run to put the Mets ahead by two again in the bottom of the fourth.
Austin Slater of the Giants hit a solo home run of his own in the top of the seventh, but Todd Frazier did the same in the bottom of that inning.
Full recap to follow.
