The Mets took the rubber game of their series against the Reds this afternoon, 8-0 at Citi Field. Jacob deGrom was his usual self, striking out ten and walking only one over his six innings of work. deGrom even helped himself at the plate when he walked, forcing in a run, in the fourth inning.
The Mets got the bulk of their offense from two outfielders today: Austin Jackson and Brandon Nimmo, who both drove in three runs today. Amed Rosario also produced a run with a sacrifice fly in the fourth inning.
The bullpen was excellent behind deGrom today, giving up just three hits and no walks over their three innings of work. For a pitcher that has been this dominant, days like this have been rare for deGrom, and the team should feel good about their performance.
Full recap to follow.
