Syndergaard makes quick work of Boston

MLB: New York Mets at Boston Red Sox Greg M. Cooper-USA TODAY Sports

The Mets defeated the Red Sox 8-0 tonight at Fenway Park. In what was essentially a bullpen game for the Sox, the Mets teed off against Boston, putting up four home runs against the best team in baseball.

Jay Bruce had himself a game, driving in the first four runs on a double and home run. Jeff McNeil added a solo home run of his own in the fourth inning, giving the Mets a five run lead.

Noah Syndergaard started for the Mets, and looked strong. Over seven shutout innings, Syndergaard struck out six, giving up three walks and three hits. Syndergaard also picked Ian Kinsler off of first base, which is something Syndergaard has been trying to improve this season.

Austin Jackson and Amed Rosario put the cherries on top of the game for the Mets, both crushing home runs over the Green Monster to put the game even further out of reach.

Full recap to follow.
