The Mets defeated the Phillies 6-4 this afternoon at Citi Field. Jacob deGrom was a late scratch due to the weather, and Corey Oswalt made the start in his place. Oswalt went three innings, giving up two earned runs, and striking out four. Drew Gagnon, Eric Hanhold, Drew Smith, and Seth Lugo combined for the final six innings, giving up just two runs and two hits, collectively, over the rest of the afternoon.
The Mets came to the plate down 2-0, but quickly got on the board when Michael Conforto singled, scoring Amed Rosario. In the fifth inning, Jeff McNeil drove in Dominic Smith to tie the game before Conforto hit an initially disputed three-run home run to put the Mets up 5-2. Austin Jackson doubled in Brandon Nimmo with the Mets’ final run of the game in the seventh inning.
