Meet the Mets
The final stage of the Mets’ managerial search will involve the returning candidates meeting with Fred Wilpon, who will ultimately have the final vote in who gets the job.
This is, presumably, the final round of the interview process.
The remaining managerial hopefuls would all be first-year candidates.
The third round will begin after the World Series.
Carlos Beltran, Eduardo Perez, Tim Bogar, Derek Shelton, and no-longer-mystery candidate Pat Murphy are reportedly still in the mix for the position.
By making a big splash and signing Gerrit Cole or Anthony Rendon, the Mets can stop the laughter.
Around the National League East
The Nationals will try to stay alive as they visit the Astros tonight for Game Six of the World Series. Stephen Strasburg will take the mound against Justin Verlander.
Nationals’ manager Dave Martinez is proud of his Long Island roots.
The Phillies held a news conference to introduce Joe Girardi as their new manager.

The Yankees have fired pitching coach Larry Rothschild after seven seasons with the club. They do not have a successor in mind and will go through a standard hiring process to find his replacement.

The Astros pulling off the Justin Verlander trade late in the 2017 season has to make the Yankees wonder what they could’ve been.
The Red Sox officially announced the hiring of Chaim Bloom as their Chief Baseball Officer.
The Rays thanked Bloom for 15 years with the organization.
Former Phillies skipper Gabe Kapler had his second interview with the Giants yesterday.

Sources believe the Dodgers will go after Cleveland’s Francisco Lindor this offseason.
Robot umpires could be coming sooner rather than later to Major League Baseball.
