The New York Mets have sent Chris Flexen back down to Triple-A Syracuse following his start this afternoon, according to Newsday’s Tim Healey. In a corresponding move, the team has called up left-hander Daniel Zamora.

Flexen started for the Mets today in place of an injured Jacob deGrom. The righty allowed six runs (five earned) on seven hits while walking four in 4.1 innings. He did not record a strikeouts in taking the loss during the 10-2 defeat to the St. Louis Cardinals.

Zamora will be recalled to the major league club after spending the beginning of this season in Triple-A with the Syracuse Mets. In five appearances, Zamora has pitched to the tune of a 1.80 ERA in five innings pitched, accounting for seven strikeouts. He will be back with the Mets after spending the tail end of the 2018 season with the team. He pitched nine innings for the club last year and finished with a 3.00 ERA.
