Jacob deGrom did it on the mound and at the plate, leading the Mets to a 6-4 lead over the Marlins. After Amed Rosario’s RBI triple gave the Mets the lead in the second, deGrom followed with a solo home run in the third, his second career round-tripper. Pete Alonso, Robinson Cano, Dom Smith, and Wilson Ramos all chipped in with RBI hits for insurance that proved important as the Mets’ bullpen struggled again.

It was another sterling performance for the reining Cy Young winner, who dominated through seven innings. He struck out 14, walked only one, allowed three hits, and didn’t give up a run. deGrom consistently snapped off 94 MPH sliders en route to his 35th consecutive start allowing three runs or less. In Keith’s words, ‘good lord’.

With their opening road trip finished, the Mets will head back to Citi Field to start a three game set with the Nationals. Noah Syndergaard will face off against Stephen Strasburg on Thursday night in the home opener.

Full recap to follow.
