Aaron Altherr looks to find his form

The Mets have activated recently acquired outfielder, Aaron Altherr. Claimed from the GIants, Altheer lost his job in the outfield with the Phillies in 2018 posting a 75 WRC+ and then being demoted to AAA. Altherr looks to be an interesting buy low candidate for any normal team willing to take a chance on him.

With the recent injuries to the outfield, the Mets are in need of quality outfield depth on the roster. Altherr looks to serve a role serving in a rotation of outfielders while Brandon Nimmo, Jeff McNeil, and Michael Conforto are out with their injuries. The Mets will likely give Altherr some at bats to prove himself during this time. If Altherr looks good during this stint, there is a definite chance he will be able to stick on the roster in a part-time bench role. He will also be competing with newly signed Matt Kemp, yesterday’s hero Carlos Gomez, Wedneday’s hero Rajai Davis, and Juan Lagares.

In a corresponding move, the Mets have optioned relief pitcher, Ryan O’Rourke, to AAA Syracuse. O’Rourke was called up yesterday and did not see action. He is currently serving as AAA depth for the Mets after being signed in the offseason.
