Triple-A: Syracuse Mets (28-25)

SYRACUSE 13, PAWTUCKET 4 (BOX)

Syracuse two old friends in Teddy Stankiewicz and Domingo Tapia, and both had rough nights. The Pawtucket relievers that came in behind them didn’t fare much better. Every Syracuse batter except Arismendy Alcantara reached base at least once, with Travis Taijeron having a monster game, hitting for a cycle. For as good as he was, the debuting Matt Kemp was equally bad, going 1-6 and leaving multiple men on base. Luckily, Syracuse didn’t need those runs.

ROSTER ALERT: LF Matt Kemp assigned to Syracuse Mets.

ROSTER ALERT: New York Mets optioned LHP Daniel Zamora to Syracuse Mets.

Double-A: Binghamton Rumble Ponies (30-19)

PORTLAND 20, BINGHAMTON 2 (BOX)

Yeah, so that happened.

ROSTER ALERT: 3B David Thompson assigned to Binghamton Rumble Ponies from Syracuse Mets.

ROSTER ALERT: Binghamton Rumble Ponies placed 2B Sam Haggerty on the 7-day injured list.

ROSTER ALERT: Binghamton Rumble Ponies activated C Dustin Houle from the 7-day injured list.

Advanced-A: St. Lucie Mets (26-27)

CHARLOTTE 6, ST. LUCIE 1 (BOX)

Dedniel Nunez clearly did not have his best stuff, allowing three runs in the bottom of the first and another two in the bottom of the third. Being down five runs early is a tough hole to climb out of, but it isn’t unsurmountable. They wouldn’t be able to fight back on this night, as the offense was befuddled by Joe Ryan for six-plus innings and was only able to tag reliever Jack Labosky for a single run.

Low-A: Columbia Fireflies (20-34)

AUGUSTA 8, COLUMBIA 6 (BOX)

Columbia squandered an early lead multiple times, with Colin Holderman giving up three runs in the third and fourth innings. Bryce Hutchinson was excellent in relief, tossing four-plus innings of scoreless baseball and giving the Fireflies their best chance to retake the lead. They made things interesting, scoring a run in the seventh and eighth, and got the tying run on base in the ninth, but reliever Jesus Tona shut them down for his seventh save of the season.
