At just about a half hour before first pitch, the Yankees called off the first game of the Subway Series due to heavy rain in the area. It rained heavily all day in New York, and with it expected to continue during the night it didn’t seem feasible to try and get the game in. The game will be made up as part of a day-night double header tomorrow. The first game will start at 1:05 PM, and the second game will remain as scheduled for 7:05 PM.
Tickets for today’s rainout will be good for the afternoon game tomorrow or can be exchanged for a future game in either 2019 or 2020. The entire rainout policy regarding tickets can be found on the Yankees’ website.
Jason Vargas was originally scheduled to face off against Masahiro Tanaka, but the Mets announced that Zack Wheeler will now be on the mound opposite Tanaka for the first game, while Vargas will match up against fellow southpaw James Paxton for the night game.
