In addition to calling a team meeting this afternoon, the Mets have announced a couple of roster moves ahead of this evening’s game. After his performance last night in which he gave up four runs over 1 13 innings, the Mets optioned Drew Gagnon to Triple-A Syracuse. Additionally, the Mets have placed the struggling Jeurys Familia on the injured list with a Bennett lesion in his right shoulder. This is the same issue Familia was sidelined with earlier this season and is a type of bone spur that is usually asymptomatic, but can sometimes become painful.

To take Gagnon and Familia’s spots on the roster, the Mets have recalled Daniel Zamora and Stephen Nogosek from Triple-A Syracuse. Zamora has posted a 6.00 ERA in six innings of work at the major league level this season, but had been pitching well of late for Syracuse. He owns a 1.12 ERA in eight innings in the minors this year. Nogosek has yet to allow a run in 12 23 innings since his promotion to Syracuse. He is one of the relievers the Mets received from the Red Sox in exchange for Addison Reed at the 2017 trading deadline.

With Nogosek added to the roster, the Mets now have 40 players on their 40-man roster.
