Final Score: Mets 7, Giants 3 — Todd Bless

A four-run eighth inning propelled the Mets to victory over the San Francisco Giants.

Home runs were the name of the game for the Mets in their 7-3 victory over the San Francisco Giants. A solid start from Zack Wheeler and some late-game heroics from Todd Frazier were just what the Amazins needed to take the series finale from the Giants.

Things started off in the right foot for the Mets as Amed Rosario and Dominic Smith laced a pair of homers to kick things off, but the Mets offense remained dormant until Jeff McNeil drove in the Mets’ third run with his pinch-hit single in the seventh inning. Thanks to Brandon Belt and Pablo Sandoval’s homers off of Zack Wheeler, this only tied the game.

Things really picked up in a bit way when the Mets started the bottom of the eighth inning with the heart of their order coming up. With a man on first, Todd Frazier did his part to send the fans home happy by depositing a ball right over the left field wall to put the Mets up by two. An RBI double from Juan Lagares pushed another run across to make it a 3-run game. Just for good measure, Jeff McNeil brought another run home to widen the gap.

A relatively calm ninth from Jeurys Familia was just what the doctor ordered to close the Mets 7-3 win.

Full recap to follow.
