Welcome to SB Nation FanPulse, a survey of fans across MLB. Each week, we send 30 polls to plugged in fans from each team. Mets fans, sign up HERE to join FanPulse.
In this week’s edition of FanPulse polling, Mets fans’ confidence in the team took a nosedive—almost all the way back to where it had been at its lowest point a couple of weeks ago. Just 21 percent of respondents said they were confident in the direction of the team, the second-lowest mark of any poll this year.
Coming off a rebound week that saw his approval rating jump all the way up to 35 percent, Mickey Callaway went right back down to his previous season-low: 10 percent approval. Given some of his curious moves over the past week and the team’s general struggles—despite taking two of three from the Giants—that’s not unexpected.
But that understandable pessimism wasn’t present for this week’s specific question that asked whether or not Mets fans approved of the team’s first pick in the amateur draft, which was high school third baseman Brett Baty. And 92 percent of respondents said they approved of the pick.

On the national level, fans were asked whether or not netting at ballparks should be extended all the way to the foul pole following a harrowing incident last week at an Astros game that saw a young child struck by a line drive. On that question, 60 percent of respondents said yes.
