The Mets bounced back in a big way, drumming the Giants in a decisive 11-4 victory. Dom Smith made up for his mistake on Friday with a home run and a pair of RBI singles, while Pete Alonso came off the bench to launch a three-run home run that iced the game. Jeff McNeil and Todd Frazier also went deep in the win.
Walter Lockett was more than good enough to make the ample run support stand up, tossing five-innings of one run ball thanks in part to heavier use of his curveball. Justin Wilson tallied a scoreless inning and Tyler Bashlor added two more before _ closed things out.
The win improves the Mets to 45-53 on the year, still outside of any realistic playoff hopes. They’ll play one more in San Francisco tomorrow afternoon.
Full recap to follow.
