The Mets defeated the Padres by the score of 4-0 on a lovely afternoon at Citi Field. It was Kidcaster day for SNY, which means that the game played second fiddle to young Caden Fiddle, who called a weird third inning for the Mets, but did so in spectacular fashion.
But even if it weren’t Caden’s professional debut, it would still have been a hell of a game for the Mets who, behind Jacob deGrom’s strong start, won the series against the Padres. deGrom threw seven scoreless innings, scattering four hits and one walk, alongside nine strikeouts for his sixth win of the year.
And, for once, deGrom didn’t have to worry about run support! In the first inning, the Mets put up of a four spot, highlighted by a Todd Frazier double. They would fail to score for the rest of the day, despite some chances, but the four run lead held up.
Edwin Diaz had a scary moment when a line drive went off his foot, but luckily the x-rays came back negative.
Full recap to follow.
