Meet the Mets

In a game where Noah Syndergaard had his best stuff of the year, the Mets almost lost it. Syndergaard pitched 7.1 innings allowing just one unearned run. Edwin Diaz came on in the 9th inning trying to protect a 2-1 lead and blew the save. The Mets answered back in the 11th inning with home runs from Jeff McNeil and Michael Conforto to secure the win.

Trade rumors were a plenty yesterday surrounding Zack Wheeler, Noah Syndergaard, and Edwin Diaz. Following his start, Syndergaard said he does not expect to get traded.

Steven Matz remembers competing against Marcus Stroman on Long Island when the two were growing up. Stroman is set to make his Mets debut on Saturday in Pittsburgh.

Ervin Santana was scratched from his start with Triple-A Syracuse as a contingency plan if the Mets were to deal a starter.

The Braves acquired reliever Chris Martin from the Rangers. In the midst of the trade, the Braves beat the Nationals in a high scoring affair 11-8.

The Marlins fell to the Twins 2-1.

Trevor Bauer is heading to the Reds as Yasiel Puig goes to Cleveland in a three-team deal.

In the midst of the trade happening, Puig, while still a member of the Reds, played a big part in the benches clearing against the Pirates.

The Cubs traded for reliever David Phelps.

Yankees first baseman Luke Voit suffered an injured core muscle and will undergo an MRI.

The Astros are reportedly engaged in talks with the Giants about acquiring Madison Bumgarner.
