The Mets had their winning streak snapped this afternoon as the Nationals defeated them 7-4. After a sloppy first inning that saw Jacob deGrom give up three unearned runs, the Mets worked their way back to tie the game at three in the bottom of the second.

But Robert Gsellman gave up two runs in the top of the seventh to put the Nationals back in the lead, and the Mets answered with one run in the bottom of that inning. Edwin Diaz made things worse by giving up a two-run home run to Victor Robles in the top of the ninth. And unfortunately, the Mets could not answer against Nationals closer Sean Doolittle, who has so often struggled against them this year.

Full recap to follow.
