Triple-A: Syracuse Mets (69-62)

SYRACUSE 11, ROCHESTER 3 (BOX)

Corey Oswalt gave up a quick first inning run, but the offense bailed him out, taking the lead in the third with a three-run inning. He gave up a second run in the top of the fourth but the offense had his back once again, scoring two in the bottom of the inning. Then they scored one in the fifth, and four in the fourth. Both teams would score another, canceling each other out, but Syracuse’s massive damage in the middle innings never really gave the Red Wings much of a chance.

ROSTER ALERT: New York Mets optioned RHP Chris Flexen to Syracuse Mets.

ROSTER ALERT: New York Mets recalled RHP Chris Mazza from Syracuse Mets.

Double-A: Binghamton Rumble Ponies (35-29/28-39)

BINGHAMTON 5, NEW HAMPSHIRE 1 (BOX)

Zach Lee had himself one hell of a day. The former first-round pick and Dodgers top prospect is a shell of his former self, but every once and a while, he’ll throw a pretty good game. He is 27- and turning 28 in a few weeks- and it’s Double-A, but hey, we’ll take what we can get. The southpaw scattered a handful of hits over seven-plus innings, his longest outing of the year. Quinn Brodey and Patrick Mazeika combined to put the Ponies on the board in the fourth, with the outfielder hitting an RBI double and the backstop hit a three-run homer, his sixteenth of the year. New Hampshire avoided the shutout with an eighth inning run, but Joe Zanghi settled down and finished out the game.

ROSTER ALERT: Binghamton Rumble Ponies placed OF Barrett Barnes on the 7-day injured list retroactive to August 22, 2019.

ROSTER ALERT: Binghamton Rumble Ponies placed 2B Gavin Cecchini on the 7-day injured list retroactive to August 23, 2019.

ROSTER ALERT: Binghamton Rumble Ponies placed 3B Will Toffey on the 7-day injured list.

ROSTER ALERT: Binghamton Rumble Ponies placed RHP Tommy Wilson on the 7-day injured list retroactive to August 23, 2019.

ROSTER ALERT: LHP Thomas Szapucki assigned to Binghamton Rumble Ponies from St. Lucie Mets.

ROSTER ALERT: SS Cody Bohanek assigned to Binghamton Rumble Ponies from St. Lucie Mets.

Advanced-A: St. Lucie Mets (32-34/35-28)

JUPITER 8, ST. LUCIE 3 (BOX)

That’s eleven losses in a row for St. Lucie now. The last time they won a game was August 13, in the first game of a doubleheader with the Fort Myers Miracle. Since then, runs have been at a premium. They scored three runs once, two runs twice, one run four times and have been shut out four times. Yesterday, down 2-0, they rallied in the bottom of the fourth to take a 3-2 lead, but Marcel Renteria allowed Jupiter to tie things up in the seventh, and then Thomas McIlraith let things get out of hand by allowing two runs in the eighth and three in the ninth.

ROSTER ALERT: OF Zach Ashford assigned to St. Lucie Mets from GCL Mets.

ROSTER ALERT: St. Lucie Mets activated RHP Jaison Vilera from the 7-day injured list.

Low-A: Columbia Fireflies (24-42/27-35)

ROME 4, COLUMBIA 3 (BOX)

Inclement weather delayed the start of the game for about two hours, but once it finally started, Columbia didn’t waste any time. Chase Chambers gave the Colaflies a quick lead with a first inning RBI double, but Christian James gave the run back in the bottom of the second and then gave up an additional one in the bottom of the fourth. Jake Simon gave up an additional two runs, but Columbia fought back. They plated a pair of runs in the eighth, but the comeback fell just short.

Short-A: Brooklyn Cyclones (38-29)

BROOKLYN 12, VERMONT 3 (BOX)

Fighting for a playoff spot, Brooklyn came out of the box swinging, scoring five runs in the first, two in the second, and three in the third. Every Cyclone player logged a hit on the afternoon, with the majority of the team actually logging two hits. Matt Cleveland had his work cut out for him, but he wasn’t too bad regardless, allowing a run over four-plus innings.

ROSTER ALERT: RHP Christian Tripp assigned to Brooklyn Cyclones from Kingsport Mets.

Rookie: Kingsport Mets (33-32)

KINGSPORT 3, BLUEFIELD 0 (BOX)

In the third, Kingsport loaded the bases up, with Jhoander Saez, Francisco Alvaez, and Jaylen Palmer all drawing walks. Andres Regnault followed, and was hit by a pitch, scoring in the first run of the game. Scott Ota followed him, and was hit by a pitch, scoring the second run of the game. Saez later drove in another run in the seventh, but given the masterful pitching of Kingsport’s staff, the run didn’t even matter. Jordany Ventura set the tone with four innings of scoreless ball, and the bullpen behind him followed.

Rookie: GCL Mets (28-23)

GCL METS 8, GCL ASTROS 2 (BOX)
