The Mets got people feeling a lot more optimistic earlier this month, but things are trending downward again.

With the Mets having been swept by the Braves and the Cubs at home, this week’s FanPulse results come as no surprise. Of the Mets fans who participated in the poll, just 63 percent said they are confident in the direction of the team this week, down from 77 percent last week and 82 percent the week before. And the poll concluded before the Cubs completed their sweep, which really felt like it put an end to the Mets’ postseason hopes.

As has often been the case this year, the approval rating for Mickey Callaway’s performance as manager went down, too. Just 24 percent of Mets fans in the poll said they approved of his work, and while he’s not the single-digits like he was for a long stretch earlier this season, he’s not anywhere near a majority.

On the national level, basbeall fans were asked whether or not they thought it was okay to bunt to break up a perfect game or a no-hitter, and 69.6 percent of respondents said yes.
