Final Score: Mets 7, Nationals 3 - Labor Day leisure

Domination on both sides of the ball.

MLB: New York Mets at Washington Nationals Brad Mills-USA TODAY Sports

After a rough game in Philadelphia on Sunday, the Mets bounced back in a big way, dominating the Nationals for a 7-3 Labor Day victory. Noah Syndergaard was dominant, striking out ten in seven shutout innings, and while Ty Bashlor stumbled in the ninth, the bullpen did enough to hang on to the lead. On the hitting side, every Met starter had a hit, while Brandon Nimmo tallied a hit and two walks in his return to the starting lineup.

More than just an important team win, several big names in the Met lineup broke out of recent slumps. J.D. Davis racked up three hits, Jeff McNeil launched a two-run home run, and Amed Rosario snapped an 0-for-11 skid with a ninth inning single. Hopefully the offense - which has been intermittently absent of late - can get churning again down the stretch.

The Mets are now 70-67 on the season, with Jacob deGrom headed to the mound against Max Scherzer tomorrow evening in a marquee matchup of Cy Young hopefuls.

Full recap to follow.
