Pete Alonso is now the all-time rookie home run leader, as he hit his 53rd bomb of the year tonight at Citi Field. Alonso tied the record on Friday evening, which had previosuly been set by Aaron Judge of the Yankees in 2017 with a ball pulled off the Great Wall of Flushing, north of the orange home run indicator line.

This is the final feather in Alonso’s cap for his all-but-locked up Rookie of the Year candidacy. Already the Mets single-season home run leader as well as the owner of the National League rookie record, Alsonso is also leading all of baseball in home runs. Oh, and he won the Home Run Derby, too.

From not being guaranteed a spot out of spring training to where he is today, Alonso’s 2019 has to go down as one of the most dominant seasons in Mets’ history. Congratulations, Pete. And #LFGM.
