Short-A: Brooklyn Cyclones (43-32)

BROOKLYN 1, HUDSON VALLEY 0 (BOX)

Brooklyn faced a must-win game, as they went into this down trailing one game to none in a three game New York Penn League semifinals series, and they pulled out a close win on the backs of the pitching staff and the rehabbing Jed Lowrie. The quartet of Nathan Jones, Matthew Allan, Corey Gaconi and Nelson Leon were excellent, combining to shut out the Renegades on just one hit, a single in the seventh inning.

Brooklyn’s offense was not much better, but they did just enough to eek out the win. Jed Lowrie continued his long trek back to the big leagues in Brooklyn, and he proved to be the difference, hitting a solo home run in the fourth inning. Brooklyn and Hudson Valley will finish their three-game series on Friday.

ROSTER ALERT: New York Mets sent 2B Jed Lowrie on a rehab assignment to Brooklyn Cyclones.
