As Mets’ playoff odds slide, Mets fans’ confidence in team does, too

Last week’s FanPulse results aren’t surprising.

Welcome to SB Nation FanPulse, a survey of fans across MLB. Each week, we send 30 polls to plugged in fans from each team. Mets fans, sign up HERE to join FanPulse.

The results of last week’s FanPulse poll are in, and Mets fans continued to express less confidence in the direction of the team and a lower approval of Mickey Callaway’s performance as manager of the team. Both of those things make sense, as the Mets had what would normally be considered a successful 4-2 road trip but included an historically-bad loss to the Nationals at a time that the Mets need every single win they can get.

As for the exact results of the poll, just 49 percent of Mets fans who participated expressed confidence in the direction of the team, down from 63 percent the week before. And just 14 percent said they approved of Callaway’s performance, a number that is flirting with the single-digit returns he saw for much of the summer—and down from 24 percent the week before.

On a national level, fans were asked if bench-clearing brawls were ever okay. A majority said yes.
