Garrison Bryant has been the Cyclones’ go-to guy all season, and last night was no different. Brooklyn’s stopper tossed six scoreless innings, allowing just one hit and walking three. Unfortunately for the Cyclones, Lowell pitchers Brock Bell and Jorge Rodriguez did the same for the Spinners, making Game One a pitcher’s duel. In the eighth, Rodriguez was removed for Tom Windle, and the Cyclones struck quickly. Brett Baty led off the inning with a single and semifinals hero Ranfy Adon followed that up with a double. The next two batters, Jose Peroza and Antoine Duplantis, hit back-to-back sacrifice flies, giving Brooklyn a 2-0 lead. Jared Biddy had a shaky bottom of the eighth, allowing a runner to reach third, but got out of the inning without scoring a run. The same could not be said of Matt Mullenbach, who pitched the bottom of the ninth. He got two outs but walked two batters, putting the tying runs on base. Edgardo Alfonzo removed him and brought in the Kingsport Mets former closer Reyson Santos, who immediately allowed a single and a run to score. After a mound visit, he settled down and got a ground out to end the game.
