Meet the Mets

Marcus Stroman accepted the qualifying offer and will be returning to the Mets for at least one more year.

One of the determining factors for Stroman to return was Steve Cohen and his press conference the previous day.

Stroman rejoins a rotation that features Jacob deGrom who finished third in the Cy Young voting after another stellar season.

Despite not winning his third straight Cy Young, deGrom can still make it to Cooperstown.

Trevor Bauer was this year’s winner and he was pleased with Sandy Alderson’s recent comments.

Both the Mets and the Yankees could be interested in bringing Bauer to New York.

In what is truly a new era of Mets baseball the team is expected to be in on both George Springer and Francisco Lindor.

If you need further proof of the winds of change, the Mets could outspend the Yankees this offseason.

The team interviewed former Marlins president of baseball operations Michael Hill for the Mets’ vacancy in that position.

Around the National League East

The Braves signed reliever Josh Tomlin to a one-year deal worth $1 million and an option for 2022.

The Good Phight looked at the players the Phillies nontendered and they were all worthy of getting the boot.

The Nationals will need Stephen Strasburg to bounce back from his injury plagued 2020 if they want to get back into contention next season.

Around Major League Baseball

Indians ace Shane Bieber unanimously won the American League Cy Young award while Trevor Bauer took home the award in the National League.

Pitcher Kevin Gausman has accepted the Giants’ qualifying offer after a solid season in San Francisco.

J.T. Realmuto, George Springer, and D.J. LeMahieu rejected their qualifying offers making them all free agents.

With Stroman accepting the qualifying offer, is Masahiro Tanaka the second most coveted free agent pitcher on the market?

This Date in Mets History

On this date in 1975, Tom Seaver took home his third Cy Young after another outstanding season. deGrom will just have to wait another season to match The Franchise.
