Meet the Mets

Alex Smith of SNY speculates on how the Nolan Arenado and Kris Bryant trade markets could affect the Mets and the rest of the division.

Luis Rojas was interviewed on MLB Network by Ron Darling and discussed how his minor league experience prepares him to manage the Mets, his career path, and more.

Jon Heyman reinforced rumors that there are “no active trade talks” involving Dominic Smith, calling the Mets’ first base depth the “best in baseball,” now that the Mets have brought Matt Adams into the fold.

Around the National League East

Phil Rizzo, father of Nationals GM Mike Rizzo, has died at the age of 90. He was a senior advisor to the Nationals front office.

Todd Zolecki of MLB.com took a look at the corner infield situation for each of the teams in the NL East. He ranks the Mets’ corner infield as the best in the division.

Steve Hummer of the Atlanta Journal Constitution is still holding out hope that the Braves will sign a third baseman.

The Good Phight took a deep dive into the Phillies’ ZiPS projections for 2020.

Evan Macy of PhillyVoice argues that if the Phillies do not acquire either Nolan Arenado or Kris Bryant, it will cost them the division.

Fish Stripes writes that Matt Joyce will help the 2020 Marlins and that young reliever Tommy Eveld may have an impact on the bullpen.

Around Major League Baseball

Two former White Sox employees and a broker have been charged in a ticketing scheme that resulted in thousands of fraudulent tickets sold that cost the White Sox roughly $1 million in sales.

Ken Davidoff of the New York Post compared the 2018 Red Sox’s home numbers to their road numbers, and while the differences are not as stark as the 2017 Astros, differences do exist.

Davidoff also makes the case for the new three-batter minimum, which will go into effect this season. He also argues that MLB should not be afraid to scrap it if it doesn’t end up working out.

Rockies owner Dick Monfort made a bold claim that the Rockies will win 94 games this season after winning 71 games in 2019 and not adding much to their roster this offseason.

The Twins have signed veteran righty Jhoulys Chacin.

Yesterday at Amazin’ Avenue

Jack McLoone kicked off our One Last Move series, making the argument for the Mets to sign Danny Salazar.

This Date in Mets History

Spring definitely came early for the Mets on Groundhog Day 2008, when they acquired Johan Santana.
