With cases of the new coronavirus rapidly growing both in the United States and throughout the world, Major League Baseball joined other sports leagues in making the right decision: to cancel the remainder of spring training and delay the start of the regular season by at least two weeks. Given that new reality, the editors and writers of this site considered our options for how to approach our coverage of the team moving forward.
Obviously, there won’t be nearly as much Mets- or baseball-specific news as usual, but should anything arise, we’ll write about it. We plan to continue our season preview series, knowing full well that nobody knows exactly how a 2020 season will look or, quite frankly, if there will be one. But to the extent that there are things to write, think, or dream about when it comes to baseball, we hope Amazin’ Avenue can be a distraction in the coming weeks or months.
This site’s foundation is its community, and we’re certainly open to hearing what you would like to see here during these times. And most importantly, we hope that you and your loved ones stay healthy as the world grapples with this pandemic.
