Alex Rodriguez and Jennifer Lopez no longer interested in buying Mets

Alex Rodriguez and Jennifer Lopez are no longer interested in buying the New York Mets, according to a report from the New York Post.

Shortly after the deal that would have sold the Mets to Steve Cohen fell through, it was reported that Rodriguez was interested in buying the team. That was back in mid-February, and just a couple of weeks ago, there were reports that A-Rod and Jennifer Lopez were looking to put together the money necessary to buy the team from the Wilpons’ ownership group.

Per the report in the Post today, though, the couple lost interest once it “became clear that the Wilpons’ reluctance to party with SNY makes it almost impossible for anyone without many billions of dollars to afford owning the team.”

Whether or not the Wilpons are able to sell the team, especially during a public health crisis that has necessitated a hiatus from professional sports, remains to be seen.
