Meet the Mets

On the second day of the draft, the Mets selected righty J.T. Ginn, outfielder Isaiah Greene, infielder Anthony Walters, catcher Matthew Dyer, and righty Eric Orze.

So who are these latest crop of prospects who are set to join the organization?

Similar to Matthew Allan last year, the Mets will need to work some magic to sign J.T. Ginn who has tremendous upside despite undergoing Tommy John surgery.

Eric Orze battled cancer twice in his lifetime before getting drafted by the Mets.

From one Pete to another, Alonso called the newly drafted Crow-Armstrong to give him advice and wish him luck on his journey to the big leagues.

Alonso was also a guest on the latest episode of Beyond the Booth with Gary, Keith, and Ron.

During the shutdown, Amed Rosario stayed with his brother-in-law Willi Castro as they both tried to navigate this uncharted territory away from family together.

The Mets had to navigate racial tensions and civil unrest in 1968, and despite their wildly different backgrounds they stayed together as a team.

Jeff Wilpon muttered a word salad when asked about selling the team but it seems a sale is still going to take place.

Around the National League East

The Braves selected outfielder Jesse Franklin, and pitchers Spencer Strider and Bryce Elder with their picks in the 2020 Draft.

The Marlins were busy selecting pitchers on the second day of the Draft. They took Daxton Fulton, Kyle Nicolas, Zach McCambley, Jake Eder, and Kyle Hurt with their picks.

With their picks the Phillies selected Casey Martin, Carson Ragsdale, and Baron Radcliff.

As for the Nationals they took Cole Henry.

Around Major League Baseball

The Tigers are still reveling in their first pick of the draft, Spencer Torkelson, who could be a game-changer for the organization.

With the abbreviated 2020 Draft in the books here is a complete list of the 160 players whose dreams came true.

Can racial bias from scouts affect who gets drafted and when?

It’s easy to forget that the Astros’ cheated their way to a World Series victory with everything else that has happened since then, but Alex Cora reminded everyone when he said that it was a team-wide effort and not just the ones who got punished.

A minor league team came up with a clever giveaway to help the Astros never forget what they did, but since that giveaway will probably not take place they have decided to sell them with proceeds going to charity.

While most of the attention has been on the Red Sox and the racist names players have been called, Delino DeShields said the same has happened at Yankee Stadium as well.

Cardinals owner Bill DeWitt recently cried poverty about owning a baseball team but that couldn’t be further from the truth.

Yesterday at Amazin’ Avenue

On the latest episode of From Complex to Queens, they discuss the 2020 Draft and the Mets’ first round pick.
