The Red Sox beat the Mets 6-5 in a back and forth game tonight at Citi Field. Jacob deGrom started for the Mets, and was solid over his six innings of work, giving up two earned runs on three hits and one walk over six innings. deGrom struck out four over his start, though he lost his scoreless innings streak at 31 innings when the Red Sox scored in the fourth inning.
The two most reliables members of the Mets’ bullpen, Seth Lugo and Justin Wilson, accounted for four of the six runs, with Wilson looking especially shot in his fourth appearance in the first six games. Home runs by Brandon Nimmo and Yoenis Cespedes, a triple by Andres Gimenez, accounted for the early runs, and even though the Mets had the bases loaded with no outs, they could not score more than one run to complete the comeback.
Full recap to follow.
